Braces and Orthodontic Care
Braces and orthodontic care is about more than just cosmetics and a straight smile. Improper alignment can cause jaw pain and chewing dysfunction. Overcrowded teeth can be more susceptible to decay and the surrounding gums are more likely to develop periodontal disease.
How Orthodontic Treatment Works
Gone are the days of bulky braces. Choose from thin, clear brackets or skip them altogether and straighten your smile with invisible aligners. Both options provide a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, slowly moving teeth to the proper position.
Because, everyone ought to have a mouth that works for them, not against them.

Dr. Justin Nylund
Dr. Nylund was born and raised in Dallas, Texas where he attended the Episcopal School of Dallas. Following graduation from high school, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee to attend Rhodes College. Dr. Nylund received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. Upon graduation, he attended a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in Alamosa, Colorado, gaining valuable experience in oral surgery and endodontics, and developing a passion for pediatric dentistry. Dr. Nylund has participated in several dental trips in the border towns of Mexico, as well as provided dental care through the Indian Health Service in both North Dakota and Minnesota.
Dr. Nylund’s commitment to excellence is shown by completing over 150 hours of continuing education every year compared to the 20 hours required by the state of New Mexico. He has completed the Christensen Continuum and has been asked to mentor other dentists participating in the training in Provo, UT. He has also proudly completed his KOIS training.
Dr. Nylund is committed to giving every patient the dental experience he would want for himself. He had several bad dental experiences as a kid and grew up afraid of going to the dentist. Dr. Nylund is committed to helping all of his patients achieve and maintain their highest possible oral health, while doing all he can to ensure the most pain-free experience for every procedure. He firmly stands behind and has a warranty for all the work he does.
Dr. Nylund has called Taos home since 2010. He and his wife, Patricia, enjoy spending time with their family.
Dr. Philip Onyirimba
Dr. Philip Onyirimba graduated from the University of Texas with his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. He then continued his education, receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Texas A&M University College of Dentistry.
Growing up, Dr. Onyirimba discovered the limited availability of dental care in his local community, which fueled his desire to become a healthcare provider. He feels honored to have the opportunity to provide high-quality dental care, and finds joy by giving people beautiful, healthy smiles.
In his spare time, Dr. Onyirimba has always enjoyed watching soccer, but has recently taken interest to football, basketball and baseball as well. When Dr. Onyirimba and his wife are not watching Netflix, they can be found exploring the culture and beauty of New Mexico.
Dr. Katelyn Bobbit
Dr. Bobbitt grew up in a small town in Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas for her undergraduate studies in biology. She completed her dental degree at Midwestern University near Chicago, Illinois. In 2019, her husband Scotty was offered a position at Sandia National Lab in Albuquerque, in a state she had never even visited. Fortunately, she loves New Mexico and its people!
Dr. Bobbitt wants her patients to know that going to the dental office doesn’t have to be a traumatic experience! She makes every patient as comfortable as possible while in her care. One of her highest priorities is ensuring that patients understand the state of their oral health and what options they have for treatment, giving them the knowledge they need to make decisions about their dental care.
When not in the office, Dr. Bobbitt can usually be found at home with her husband and three cats, watching tv, doing crafts, or reading. Occasionally she will allow her husband to talk her into a hike in the beautiful New Mexico weather.
